Seeking the Truth

More and more we are seeing the truth of situations being revealed in the world.  It was predicted that in the new millennium there would be revelations in all areas of world matter and we have all witnessed it on a global and personal level over the last years.

From the year 2000 we have seen the prediction spectacularly manifesting;  the downfall of unethical business such as Enron, the Church’s historical cover up of child abuse, Julian Assange making public thousands of emails showing shady dealings with government officials and even the inaccurately report of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq which has lead the western world into a long and costly war, mainly in loss of life of men, women and children, with very little positive outcome to show for it.

sodalite-roundIndividually, we re experiencing it too with our craving for truth became stronger. We say ‘If only he/she would be honest with me. I can just feel they are not being truthful’. We question the motives of government and systems that are showing increasingly not to be in our best interests.  But more importantly, we are questioning our own truth.  There is an innate part of us that is awakening to the realisation that inner truth is the key to peace and harmony in our life and we want it!

We know deep within us that we have been living the illusion that we are not good enough, that we do not have enough or that we are not strong enough to make changes; that there is nothing we can do to change our world.  Now we are beginning to challenge the illusion and see the reality – we are strong enough and we can change our little part of the world.  If we each do it for ourselves it will spread like ripples on a pond.  It doesn’t need to be major upheaval, just little steps towards the inner truth we seek.

Can’t means Won’t

We have been taught to be afraid of failure often disguised as worrying about what others think of us.  I’m sure you remember as a child acting out in frustration and a parent saying to you ‘Stop it, people are looking. They will think you are naughty?’.  This was how the pattern started, teaching us that we were failing in some way, that we were wrong to show our feelings, of being ourselves.   A simple set of words that our parents used because they had the same pattern laid on them as children.  Similarly, they inadvertently taught us lack because that was the experience of their parents and maybe they were embarrassed by it, they tried to protect us from disappointment because they perhaps had not had the opportunity to fulfil their dreams and felt less in the eyes of others because of it; so many scenarios created out of love and fear.   As parents we all want to be seen as effective and how our children behave and what they achieve is an indication to the world that this is this case and therefore we and they become acceptable.  And we all want to be acceptable!

Every time you hear yourself think or say ‘I can’t’, challenge it.  Ask yourself ‘Can I?’  or ‘Am I afraid to try?’.  We know we are capable of anything because we only have to look back over our lives and remember the challenges we have faced.  The basic things like learning to walk – we’d never done it before yet we stood up and kept trying until we got it right.  We all experienced that first day of school; going to a place we had never been and having to leave our family to stay with strangers.  It was, for many, a traumatic experience yet we overcame it, we learned to cope with the unknown.  And what about learning to drive a car?  Do you remember having to learn how to reverse around a corner?   Did you get it right the first time?  No, you just kept trying until you got it right and each time you got it wrong it was a step towards mastering it.

This is the truth we seek; the fact that we are enough, we can do anything we put our mind to and we always have the necessary strength to take us through to the end.  We are good people, amazingly strong and fantastic and what we each bring to the world is a unique pattern of experience that adds to the whole. Best of all, it is our ‘mistakes‘ that make us who we are, that guide us through difficult times and act as inspiration for others.  So, are they mistakes or just another enlightening experience?

Changing

Times they are a-changing!

Have you noticed that your life is changing; things don’t seem quite the same in your thoughts, your feelings and what you are prepared to accept into your life?  It’s as though suddenly you can see more clearly what has been going on and that you are ready to ‘do it different’.    It can be painful, disorientating and unsettling on the one hand but deeply insightful on the other.

Why does the persistent and relentless energy of change seem to be stronger at the moment? Part of the reason is, that during late August and the first half of September, the Sun was in Virgo creating a move to deeper awareness and strengthening our desire for positive change to come forward, with its essence being that any change is better than no change at all.  This may have created some concerns but, as the Sun enters Libra, many of the blocks that have been standing in our way to achieving a fabulous and joyous life, can dissolve when we embrace the opportunity to receive the information that allows us to make well informed choices.  When we allow life to flow, we align ourselves to what sits deep in our own knowing, take action and change our future.

If you don’t like something, change it.

If you can’t change it, change your attitude toward it.

~  Maya Angelou

Some of us do not like change, we may even be afraid of it, but we cannot allow that to lure us into accepting any circumstance that is not comfortable.  We can accept that we are the only one that can change our life; no outside influence or person can do that for us or to us.  Only we, the individual, can challenge our own thought patterns, make a different choice and become awakened and empowered by life. It takes courage to step out onto that road of discovery but the inevitability of time means that nothing can stay the same anyway so we may as well take that first step consciously.

We have the potential to create changes right across our life; doing nothing or having nothing happen will not be possible for anyone at this time and by December this year we will each have had the opportunity to move through a really positive phase.  This phase has the potential to change every area of our life including, family, home, career and even relationships if we choose.  All we have to do take that first step!

Crystals for Energy Alignment

My first go to reviver is Clear Quartz.  A small tumbled or rough piece placed in a glass, a jug or drinking bottle energises the water – check it out with your pendulum.  Dowse the water before and after and see the difference.  When you drink the water it energises the body cells.

Only use Clear Quartz in drinking water as some crystals are highly toxic in liquid.

The following crystals I would place against my skin; either sticky taped to it or supported by tight underclothing.

Sodalite is a great crystal to stimulate the mental body and bring order and organisation to our thoughts and words.  It is especially helpful in counteracting feelings of confusion or disorientation that can occur due to the shifting energies we are experiencing at the moment.  As our life around us changes we can experience a wide range of emotions including stress, anxiety, fear, guilt and anger. Beautiful blue Sodalite has a peaceful and relaxing quality that can calm challenging emotional states and help to relax an overactive mind by slowing down excessive mental activity.  As an extra benefit it can also alleviate insomnia.

Use Bloodstone to strengthen and support your physical body, energetic structure and attitude to the shifting energies.   Bloodstone gives a rejuvenating quality that can support you through a health crisis and speed up the healing of any physical symptoms you are experiencing.  It is especially helpful if you are feeling fatigued, exhausted, and drained.  It is a grounding stone and brings in a sense of stability at best and at worst a sense that everything is OK, even if it doesn’t feel that way!

Three other crystals that would be a mainstay for any energy alignment would be Citrine to stimulate the Immune System to fight of bugs that may wish to join the low energy party, Rose Quartz to balance the heart and mind allowing us the permission to go inward to rest and recover and Amethyst to connect to that part of us that has been neglected which knows we are loveable and deserving of life’s gifts.  Don’t we often forget that?

Crystals have been recorded throughout time as used for healing and they are still used for their qualities in laser treatment, watches, computers and mobile phones.  So you see nothing is new.

If you would like more information on crystals and how they work please feel free to contact us.

Obviously where there is concern over health, it is recommended to check it out with your GP.

The Miracle of Messages

I am always amazed at the way messages are constantly brought to us; daily even moment to moment messages are there that give us guidance, remind us that there is constant support even when we feel we are alone and messages designed to promote a train of thought or confirmation.  We will often think of someone or decide to do something and almost immediately some form of message will re-enforce our thought.   Many will put it down to coincidence but it happens constantly and once you are aware of them you will see them in their many forms.

In my very early days of exploring the full meaning behind what I had felt from a child, I would often be driving home through the country lanes in England at dusk mulling over my thoughts.  I began to notice that each time I asked myself ‘I wonder if this is right’ an owl would fly across my path.  It happened each time the thought came; different places on the journey, different times of the evening and different type of owls so I realised I was not crossing a regular flight path.  I felt very supported in my thought processes that ‘someone’ was helping me on my journey of discovery.

One day I happened to be stuck in a traffic jam in the local town.  It was midday and pouring with rain.  I was going nowhere so my mind wandered into my ‘I wonder..’ thoughts.  I had reached the point of ‘I wonder if this is right’ realising that I would be unlikely to receive my usual confirmation.  I had just thought,  ‘Well, you will have a job to send an owl now!’ when the car in front started to move forward to reveal its number plate  – OWL 749.  Goose bump moment!

It is these events that make you look more consciously for the messages and they truly are everywhere.

Recently, we were at an animal park near Port Douglas.  It was very busy, with all ages learning   about crocodiles and snakes and their lifestyles.  It was at the Snake Show that the message came to me about monitoring our beliefs.  Before we came to Australia we were made aware that this continent is home to some of the most venomous snakes and spiders in the world – a fact.  By many, we were led to believe that they lurked in every dark place intent on hunting us down and killing us – people’s belief based on a fact but fed by a fear.  If you think it through, animals are only interested in two things; food and survival.  They know what they can eat and they are on the constant look out for anything delicious that is in their environment.  When they see a creature bigger or more dangerous than themselves, they employ their instinctual good sense and move away.  They will defend themselves only when they feel threatened.   The Snake Keeper reiterated this and explained that, in fact, there have been very few deaths from snake bites since the 1980’s due to antivenom advances and education.  Strikes mainly occur when they are cornered and there is no escape.    Obvious behaviour really if you think about it: don’t we strike out when we feel we are threatened in some way – usually verbally but sometimes physically – it is a natural response.

The Keeper went on to tell us that surprisingly there were far more deaths caused in Australia yearly by interaction with another animal; not sharks, not spiders, not snakes but horses!  It reminded me that we must monitor our framework of life as our beliefs are often created by misinformation passed from person to person each with their own agenda, and, in many cases, are not based in fact but are a reflection of another’s fears.  We then take that information on board unchallenged and make decisions based on a misnomer.  Little wonder we suffer with low self-esteem, believe we are responsible for making other people’s lives happy or harmonious by suppressing our own need and all the other undermining thoughts that play out in our mind and go on to create our life.

Incidentally, another more obvious message was graphically displayed that shows we often don’t connect the dots and live our lives as a series of events that we don’t see as connected to each other.    There was a large amount of people at the same Park looking and learning about the fascinating animals and their habitats on this amazing and beautiful planet.   We were encouraged to honour the environment of these wonderful creatures and told of how we are impacting it daily.  There was much nodding in agreement and applause and then they left the area.  Behind them was a huge amount of the rubbish on the ground and on the seats they had occupied, despite the large number of rubbish bins provided!   What an interesting and complex race of beings we are!

Versatile Bananas

Bananas are the original convenience food – packaged by nature and ready to go.  The following information will help you see bananas in a new light and get you eating them regularly.

Bananas contain three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fibre giving an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy; just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout.   Not surprisingly, bananas are the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes.  But energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit, it can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a valuable addition to our daily diet.

Depression: Feel more positive after eating a banana. Bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Bananas contain vitamin B6 which regulates blood glucose levels improving your mood.

Anaemia: Bananas are high in iron and can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure.   In fact, the US Food and Drug Administration has recently allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: In a recent trial 200 students at a Twickenham school ( England ) were helped through their exams  by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: Bananas are high in fibre so including them in the diet can help restore normal bowel action.

Hangovers: Make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito Bites: Rub the affected area with the inside of a banana skin to reduce swelling and irritation

Bee Stings:    In the case of bee stings, first remove the sting and wash the area. Then apply the banana skin to reduce pain and swelling.

Nervousness and Anxiety:   Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.    Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips thus potentially increasing weight.  The report found that overweight and obese workers are  more likely to be in high-pressure jobs.  By avoiding panic-induced food cravings, we can keep our blood sugar levels steady by snacking on high carbohydrate foods such as bananas.

Ulcers: Because of its soft texture and smoothness, banana is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in the case of intestinal disorders. It  neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

So, bananas really are a natural remedy for many ills.  When compared to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin a and iron and twice the levels of other vitamins and minerals.  Bananas are also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.

Banana and Peanut Ice Cream

Blend two ripe frozen bananas and then lace with a little vanilla, a little cinnamon and a good dollop of smooth peanut butter.   Drizzle with honey or agave syrup and add some nuts.  As an alternative, substitute almond or hazelnut spread and slivered almonds.  In the case of total nut allergies avoid any nuts and add a little melted chocolate and banana pieces.

Detachment

Last year was a year of endings and the energy of new beginnings kicked in around September.   You maybe feeling the sense of wishing to change things in your life – a job, a home, a situation – and that is simply the death and rebirth cycle we all experience periodically.  The January New Moon in Aquarius was a definite starting point for setting the wheels in motion. Aquarius energy is all about starting fresh, thinking outside of the box and finding new meaning to things.

Detachment is the way to aid this process.  When we get caught up in the details or dragged into the drama it is difficult to see things clearly. Our mind becomes clouded and we cannot break free from the fear of change.  This is how it has always been so what will happen if it changes?  Will I cope?  When we can detach from all that it is easier to see the way forward; the way that is best for our own well-being.   How many people do you know, maybe even yourself, that stay in a situation that is painful, upsetting or unhealthy because they feel they have no choice?  They fear the outcome of making a stand and changing the situation.   Well, detachment gives you back the power of choice and helps you to move forward again.  With a clear mind you can see the bigger picture and view things in a new way.  Use the power and energy of this period to regain strength and resolve to see a new version of your own truth.

Crystal to help us move forward

Smoky Quartz helps you us achieving our full potential. It helps to release all the blocked, old and stagnant energy in our body. Once all of the old energy is removed, new energy is able to fill all the open space with light and hope.

Citrine  helps us to develop a positive attitude. It encourages us to go with the flow and let go of anything from the past that is creating unhappiness. It promotes the enjoyment of new things and experiences.

Carnelian is the stone of individuality, creativity and courage. It encourages an awareness of the connection between our emotional state and our state of being.  Carnelian dissolves fear, helps us to trust ourselves and our perceptions, and boosts self-confidence.

Preparing Your Kitchen Space

Don’t you  just love the fresh start that a new year brings?  Your first Nourish Note for 2017 begins with creating a calm and organised space in the kichen, the central place of your home that can help to support your health throughout the year.   Being prepared is a key factor in maintaining healthy food habits and there is no better place to start than in your kitchen.

When our ‘space’ feels clear and organised we’re generally more inspired to spend time getting creative with our food and cooking.  This helps to keep us motivated with our food choices and away from unconscious eating.

So,  how does being organised relate to our dosha?  Your Vata Dosha, which governs all movement rhought he mind and body, helps to express our imagination.  Yet when we feel overwhelmed our  productivity can come to a standstill.  Being organised gives us the soace to be creative in a relaxed environment.
